Elite League Round 3 Recap!

Aug 31st, 2008 | By Fire | Category: 2008-3 Elite League

Both conferences are really shaping up and defining their spot in the standings after Round 3. Each team sees the possibility of win each and every week. We’ve already seen a few upsets this season but what did Round 3 bring?

Bombers down TechEast

TechEast came ready to play against Lynx last Tuesday, but their offense didn’t seem to show up against the Bombers this week. In a 6-0 shutout the TechEast sluggers had almost no success against the Bombers pitching staff. Things won’t get an easier for TechEast as they will meet up with a mad FlightAL squad next week.

Final Score: Bombers 6, TechEast 0.

Lynx Plays Too Rough for Roto NL

For the 2nd straight week the Roto NL pitching staff got jacked up for double digit runs Things aren’t exactly looking positive for the NL squad as they are staring at an 0-3 record. Lynx was glad to get the monkey off their shoulders and pick up their 1st win of the season. Roto NL will get their share of the D Rays and Lynx will meet with Ambition next week. Both games look to be solid matchups.

Final Score: Lynx 13, Roto NL 5.

BigHeros Back to Their Old Ways

The BigHeros squad saw a win come against the East Conference powerhouse, FlightAL. The FlightAL pitching staff got hit for 10 runs and the offense was unable to bail them out. The BigHeros may have been a little desperate after a loss to D Rays the previous week but hopefully they will be back on track. They meet with the Bombers squad next week who will leave little room for mistakes.

Final Score: BigHeros 10, FlightAL 7.

Ambition Avoid D Rays Sting

Ambition is finally on the board after a confident win against the D Rays. The Ambition offense lit up for 14 runs and never looked back. The D Rays would like to do well against Elite League competition but they may just not have enough steam to consistently win. They do face the 0-3 Roto NL squad so their may be hope for them to return to a .500 record, but things may be falling apart.

Final Score: Ambition 14, D Rays 8.

DwH Falls One Donut Short

Rage was able to edge out DwH on Tuesday and pick up their 1st win of the season. Thievery may not be a skill that Rage specializes in but they flat out stole the victory from DwH. For the 2nd week in a row DwH lost by just a run. They’ll look for a glimmer of hope next week when they go up against RotoWire.

Final Score: Rage 7, DwH 6.

Empire Sneaks Past RotoWire

The Elite League sees a good amount of heat between teams and the RotoWire/Empire matchup is no anomaly. Each team had a small fire ignited within them to take the advantage against the other team. In the end both teams drew some respect for each other as Empire edged out RotoWire by just a run. With RotoWire looking good early, Empire fought their way back in late innings. Both the Empire and RotoWire squads are going to be tough teams come playoffs and a rematch may be in store. Only time will tell.

Final Score: Empire 5, RotoWire 4.

TechWest Struck with Insanity

TechWest just finished beating Empire and RotoWire but found themselves amuck against Insanity, Tuesday night. After putting up a combined 23 runs against RotoWire and Empire, TechWest could only muster 1 run against Insanity. Any team in the Elite League can beat anyone on any given night. No team is safe from an upset and perhaps Insanity will need to be favored more down the road.

Final Score: Insanity 8, TechWest 1.

FlightNL Able to Handle Carnage

Carnage has been slightly understaffed all season long and last week was able to escape with a walkoff HR from BlindMan. Unfortunately, FlightNL was not going to show any mercy against Carnage. The Carnage offense has yet to see an appearance from slugger HeadAke and is relying on the sexy Swedes (GAWD and ToyBoy) for production. FlightNL continued to pitch well and leads the Elite League with only 9 runs against through 3 games.

Final Score: FlightNL 12, Carnage 3.
